Nothing more needs to be said on that walking firebomb. Very much the He-man of clerics instead of D&D's walking aspirin/antibiotic dispenser. I dunno what it is about him, but I get an impression of barely supressed psychosis mixed with his religious zealotry. Looks like a drill instructor or PE teacher that decided to crack skulls for Jesus. His holy symbol is on his weapon instead of hanging around his neck like some sort of hippy zodiac sign. I'm noticing some serious lacking of helmets here that gives me Rolemaster channelling flashbacks, but I'm hoping that is not a eature in the game. Next we have a scarred bald cleric with a warhammer that looks capable of remodelling a brick wall the hard way. This guy is no Tolkien dwarf singing songs and digging for gold, he's out to kick some ass.

I'm not sure if he's going to swing it or just menace his opponent with it, but I'd piss my pants if he came out of a dark alley screaming at me. He's half naked and still pulling "tank duty" and the battle axe is not twice as big as he is. The dwarf pulls off a mohawk without looking like and idiot. This is the kinda group that morale checks were designed to take into account. That's the kind party I always wanted to run for in a fantasy game not the bunch of pansy bookeepers and console game clones that I usually ended up with. That party of adventures is pissed and full of attitude. Enough rambling though, time to pick it up and go through my impressions one by one. The fact that it has a huge fan community that enjoys contributing to the game as well also made me look towards it favorable. It isn't afraid to include things like gunpowder and sweat and that made it infinitely more attractive. Those were things I always wanted from fantasy back when I was interested. However, WFRP seems realistic, deadly and detailed. I things larger than life and cinematic as possible, usually.

I'm big on games like Unknown Armies, Spycraft, Scion and Exalted.

It used to be my favorite gnere, but my tastes have changed as the years passed. Earlier this week, I had decided to mod WFRP for Iron Kingdoms, but hell the book looked so cool that I decided to give the default rules and setting a try and I don't regret that decision.įirst, let me say that I am not really big on fantasy settings. Second edition is the first I have owned and while many friends have played the 40K or Fantasy war games, I always let their chatter go in one ear and out the other. Today, I have decided to serious look at Warhammer Fantasy without getting distracted. Impressed by grubman's Let's Play, I have decided to give it a try.
